Benefits of Organic Farming

Do you ever wonder why people push towards organic foods? Some people who are unfamiliar with this industry might believe organic foods contain additional nutrients that conventional foods do not have, but that is not entirely true. Organic foods are referred to the way farmers grow their food, organic is meant to be a sustainable source of food that is environmentally and animal friendly. This method of farming considers the impact on our bodies, reduces pollution in our environment and considers the welfare of animals. It is almost identical to traditional methods without the junk that we do not want in our bodies, plus the animals stay happy…

All organic foods are regulated in Canada by the government and by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). All food that is grown in Canada must follow the Food and Drugs Act, and regulations are set for the consumption of organic foods. Organic farming and conventional methods all believe in the same goal, but organic practices are not permitted to include synthetic fertilizers, synthetic pesticides for pest control, genetic engineering and no use of antibiotics to boost hormones for livestock.

How can you differentiate Organic foods from conventional foods?

So how do you identify organic foods…well it’s not that hard. Next time you go to the grocery store look for these labels on your food. These labels are on every single piece of food except when it randomly peels off and now you have no idea whether it’s organic or conventional. Refer to the image below.
